Dr Stephen Kelly is a Queensland trained specialist ENT surgeon and head & neck surgeon with expertise in all aspects of Ear, Nose and Throat surgery in both adults and children. He is chairperson of the Head and Neck multidisciplinary meeting at Ipswich Hospital.
He obtained his medical degree at Queen’s University of Belfast, Northern Ireland. He undertook internship and basic surgical training in the deanery of Northern Ireland, with one year spent in Queensland (2002-3).
Dr. Kelly became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2006. He undertook further postgraduate education, obtaining a Diploma of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007.
Dr. Kelly then undertook a five-year specialist ENT surgery training program in Queensland. He gained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 2016. He completed a 12-month Rhinology and Otology Fellowship in 2018, in Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom, gaining experience in advanced otologic and rhinological surgical techniques in both adults and children.
Dr. Kelly has completed, published and presented research both in Australia, Great Britain and Ireland. He is an associate lecturer at the University of Queensland and is the current supervisor of RACS ENT training at Ipswich Hospital where he actively mentors and supervises registrars, junior doctors and medical students in their training.
Dr. Kelly is Chairperson of the Multidisciplinary Head & Neck Oncology Clinic and is also the Chair for the Multidisciplinary Thyroid clinic at Ipswich Hospital. He is the Deputy Director of the ENT department at Ipswich Hospital. He is a member of the Australasian Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (ASOHNS) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA)
